An update from Worcestershire County Council:
Further to the recent update we have managed to agree with our contractor that instead of having two periods of overnight closures on Temeside Way (ie one closure on 30th September and a further 5 overnight closures starting on 7th October), the work will be carried out in one block of up to 5 consecutive evenings starting on 30th September.
The overnight closures on the A38 just north of the Ketch Roundabout will begin immediately after the work has been completed on Temeside Way (not including Saturday or Sunday evenings). The number of overnight closures on the A38 will increase as the opportunity has arisen to install some street lighting and signals ducting that would otherwise have required overnight closures later in the programme.
The Traffic Management will be deployed for the minimum period necessary in a configuration that will have the minimum possible impact on traffic consistent with efficient working and the safety of road users and the workforce. There will be a requirement to divert pedestrians and cyclists for some phases of the work and users will be directed to follow the shortest safe alternative route.
Advanced warning signs will be displayed on site and diversions will be signposted for full road closures. We will deliver updated letters to any businesses or residents we expect to be directly affected by the work.
Please find below an updated summary of the overnight works:
|30th September until 25th December 2019||Southeast quadrant of Powick Roundabout and the western end of Temeside Way.||Temeside Way fully closed in both directions overnight for up to 5 evenings starting on Monday 30th September (9pm-5:30am) thereafter Temeside Way will be down to 2 lanes on the approach to Powick Roundabout for the duration of this phase of work. During the overnight closure a diversion will be signposted via Bath Road/Bromwich Road but blue light services will still be able to use Temeside Way).||To construct a new Malvern-bound free-flow lane (although note this will not open immediately following this phase of work) and to install ducting for new street lighting and signals.|
|Early October 2019 for 14 weeks (including approx. 5 nights of overnight closures)||A38 immediately north of Ketch Roundabout.||Road fully closed overnight in both directions for up to 10 nights (9pm – 5:30am M-F inc.) between the Ketch and Timberdine Roundabouts. The southbound lanes will be on a temporary new alignment for 12 weeks thereafter. The pedestrian crossing will be temporarily relocated to the north (opposite the shops). A diversion will be signposted during the closures via A4440/London Road. Drivers will be warned at other key locations (eg Powick, Sidbury and Whittington) so they can divert earlier if they wish.||To widen the carriageway to increase stacking capacity on the southbound approach to Ketch Roundabout and to install ducting for new street lighting and signals.|
Please note that dates/times may vary due to factors such as inclement weather. Some of the work is sequential so any delay will impact subsequent dates.
